Field Vibration Testing
Contact ANCO to test civil structures in the field. Since 1965 at University of California,
Los Angeles (UCLA) and since 1971 at ANCO we performed over 300 field vibration tests
world wide to determine the in-situ dynamic properties of structures including:
- Concrete gravity and arch dams
- Nuclear power plant containments and internal equipment
- Historical buildings being seismically strengthened
- Off shore oil platforms
- Bridges
- Flexible floors in convention centers and stadiums
- Machine foundations
- Piping and cable trays systems
- Gaseous effluent stacks
- Conventional plant boiler structures
Such testing clarifies many issues:
- Modal property measurement
- Verification/validation/modification of finite element models
- Vibration source identification/mitigation
- Machinery health monitoring
- Vibration isolation system evaluation/design
- Seismic margin analysis/qualification
- Vibration/stress/drift long term monitoring
- Soil/geological wave propagation studies in the near (meters) and far (km) field
Testing is performed with eccentric mass vibrators, impulsive exciters, and ambient
vibration testing listed in ANCO products menu. Data acquisition is provided by
the ANCO FOVDAR, GENDAR, and ME’scope software.
