POSEIDON: Geocentrifuge control and data acquisition software/PC
POSEIDON is a PC-based, open loop controller for driving educational shake tables
with earthquake libraries combined video/audio effects.
- Allows the user to quickly select from a large library of historical and artificial
earthquakes to block cycle through an educational demonstration.
- Allows the user to introduce user-created time histories and video/audio in addition
to the library.
- Creates the drive signal to the shake table (1-3 axes) while playing videos displaying
the location/date/actual damage of historical earthquakes.
- Outputs realistic wide screen moving video images of failing structures and tsunamis
that can be viewed on monitors inserted into false windows in the passenger compartment.
- Demonstration set-ups can be saved and retrieved for later use, review, and modification.
- Provides numerous safety features including anti clip function, end of travel shut
down, mouse activated E-stop, passenger load/unload kneeling, and ease of operation.
- Contains a module for frequency domain correction of table transfer function (used
during initial set-up).
POSEIDON is a PC-based ANCO written Virtual Instrument (VI) using LabVIEW which produces
drive signals and acquires data using National Instruments hardware. (See also ANCO
product Public Education Shake Tables.)
