Public Safety Features
A Public Education Shake Table does not need the precision or full instrumentation of a research table, hence it is less expensive. However, such a shake table absolutely must have numerous safety features to minimize the possibility of causing injury to the public.
These safety features include:
- Controlled Acceleration -
not to exceed 1.0 g's via limited force actuators; - Soft stops, end-
of- travel bumpers to limit shock; - Automatic electronic stops at end of travel;
- E-
Stop switches - at least two on every table and at operator station; - Pinch point caution and protection guards;
- Protective railings;
- Reliable PC-
based control system with uninterruptible power supply; - All-
electric drives with no stored energy; - Safety training and user-
friendly control program.
