About ANCO
| |
Have a building or structure that is just a little too big
to be tested on a shake table or even in a lab? Want to study the dynamics
of the structure? Then the ANCO HEAVE line of products is what your
looking for. The HEAVE Quick Release Link is a device that utilizes
"snapback testing" to excite and study the dynamics of
structures. It is designed to allow for tensioning of a cable, then
suddenly releasing that tension or load, causing reverberation throughout the
structure (as shown below). There are four distinct models available with
load capacities varying from 4,500 lbs (20kN) to 36,000 lbs (160kN), but as with
all ANCO products, one can be custom designed to fit your needs.

| How It Works:
The HEAVE is operated by latching onto a shackle
clevis pin which is restrained from being released by the Flip
Lever. The Flip Lever is prevented from flipping downwards by the
Release Lever. To prevent accidental release, a Safety Pin is
inserted in the metal of the machine blocking any movement of the Release
Lever until such time release is desired. Once the test object is
appropriately hooked up and the test is ready to start, the Safety Pin is
removed. Once the Safety Pin is removed, the Release Lever is able
to move, but should not do so until it is pushed backwards by striking it
with a hammer or applying a lever or wrench to the Release Lever
handle. This will allow the Flip Lever to more downwards and thereby
release the shackle. |
